Storytelling: Cause and Effect
To create a compelling story, it's important to ensure the proper relationship between the story parts. One thing must cause another which causes another, etc. or the story will not make sense.
Rearrange the story elements so that they have the proper cause and effect:
· She liked the bakery because it sold her favorite type of German pastries.
· She walked down the sidewalk and crossed the street in front of the small, neighborhood bakery.
· As always, the park was filled with dogs that were running and jumping and catching Frisbees.
· Brittany decided to go for a walk, so she called her dog, Spot, got his leash, and went outside.
· She kept walking until she got to the park.
· Both she and spot really liked it in the park.
When the parts are arranged properly, you should have something like this:
Brittany decided to go for a walk, so she called her dog, Spot, got his leash, and went outside. She walked down the sidewalk and crossed the street in front of the small, neighborhood bakery. She liked the bakery because it sold her favorite type of German pastries. She kept walking until she got to the park. As always, the park was filled with dogs that were running and jumping and catching Frisbees. Both she and spot really liked it in the park.
